Applying Your 8" Pre-Cut Frosting Sheet Circle to a Cake
Six careful steps for applying a large pre cut icing sheet cleanly and evenly across the full top surface of a celebration cake.

Get the Cake Surface Ready Before Anything Else
An 8" pre cut frosting sheet covers the full top of a standard cake, which means the entire surface beneath it needs to be consistently prepared. Apply fresh buttercream, ganache, or fondant and allow it to settle slightly before placing the topper. Avoid surfaces that are heavily condensed from refrigeration, oily, or freshly chilled, as these conditions prevent the pre cut icing sheet from gripping evenly across such a large surface area.

Remove the Circle from the Backing with Both Hands
This is a large circle and requires a steady, two-handed approach. Hold opposite edges of the pre cut frosting sheet and peel it slowly away from the backing with even tension across the full width. Avoid peeling from a single corner, as this can cause the circle to stretch or develop a fold near the centre. If the sheet is slow to release, lay it flat in the freezer for 10 to 15 seconds and try again.

Apply Adhesive Evenly Across the Full Back Surface
For fresh buttercream and icing, the natural surface moisture is often sufficient to hold an 8" pre printed edible icing sheet in place. For drier surfaces such as fondant, apply adhesive evenly across the entire back of the circle before placing it. A brush barely dipped in water applied in light strokes, or edible glue distributed in small drops across the full area, will give you even adhesion without the risk of wrinkling or colour bleed at any point.

Lower the Circle onto the Cake from the Centre
Hold the circle at two opposing edges and position it directly above the centre of the cake. Lower it flat, making contact at the centre first, then allow the outer areas to lay down naturally. Once the full circle is on the surface, use a fondant smoother in slow, outward strokes from the centre toward the edge, working any trapped air out from beneath the pre cut frosting sheet evenly around the perimeter.

Leave the Topper Completely Undisturbed to Set
An 8" circle requires more setting time than a smaller topper because of the larger bonding area. Once it is placed and smoothed, do not touch, lift, or adjust any part of it. Any interference during this period risks creating a crease that runs across the full width of the topper or lifting the edge away from the surface in a way that cannot be corrected without removing the topper entirely.

Store the Cake Away from Any Source of Moisture
Once your pre cut edible icing sheet is applied, keep the cake in a cool, dry location and do not refrigerate it. Condensation inside a refrigerator is particularly damaging to a large-format topper because the moisture has more surface area to affect. The frosting sheet material softens, the printed colours spread, and the image loses sharpness in a way that is immediately visible at 8" scale.
