Applying Your 5x7" Frosting Sheet Topper Correctly
Follow these six steps for a flat, sharp result on any rectangular cake or dessert surface.

Check Your Cake Surface Before You Begin
A 5x7" topper covers a significant area of a dessert surface, so the base needs to be consistently flat and receptive. Fresh buttercream that has firmed slightly, smooth fondant, and fully set ganache are all reliable starting points. Wet, oily, or freshly refrigerated surfaces prevent the custom frosting sheet from gripping and staying in position.

Remove the Topper from the Backing Sheet
With dry, clean hands, hold the topper at opposite short edges and peel it away from the printed frosting sheet backing slowly and with consistent tension. Work across the full width rather than peeling from a single corner. If the sheet is reluctant to release, lay it flat in the freezer for 10 to 15 seconds. The brief cold firms the material enough for a clean, undamaged separation.

Apply Adhesive Sparingly and Evenly
On dry surfaces such as fondant, apply a very light layer of adhesive to the back of the topper before placing it. A brush barely dipped in clean water, a thin spread of piping gel, or four to five drops of edible glue distributed evenly across the back is all that is required. Excess moisture causes the custom frosting sheet to wrinkle, develop air pockets, or bleed colour into the surface below.

Lower It onto the Surface with Control
Hold the topper at its two short edges and position it above the dessert surface with the correct alignment before making contact. Lower it flat from the centre outward and press gently with a fondant smoother or the palm of your hand, working from the middle toward each long edge. This technique removes trapped air and ensures all four corners sit flush against the surface.

Step Away and Allow It to Set
Once the frosting sheet is placed and smoothed, do not touch it again until it has had time to bond. The long edges of a 5x7" topper are particularly susceptible to lifting if disturbed during setting. A few minutes of complete rest will produce a result that stays flat, stays in place, and looks exactly as it should throughout the event.

Store the Finished Dessert Away from Moisture
After applying your printed frosting sheet, keep the decorated dessert in a cool, dry environment and do not refrigerate it. The condensation that forms inside a refrigerator is the most common cause of edible print deterioration. It softens the frosting sheet material, causes the colours to spread, and reduces the sharpness of the image in a way that cannot be reversed.
